Dr Maree Brinkman is a nutritional epidemiologist and nutritional consultant, specialising in cancer treatment and prevention, and the management of other chronic conditions. She has over 25 years of experience studying and working in the diet and nutrition field.
Maree completed her Bachelor of Science majoring in Nutrition at Latrobe University, and followed this with a Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at Deakin University. Maree completed a PhD in Nutritional Epidemiology at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, where she worked in research for several years. She has been an author of over 40 peer-reviewed scientific publications, a book chapter for an Oxford University textbook on neurological surgery, and a patient-centred book on nutrition and bladder cancer. Her scientific publications have been cited over 2,000 times.
The main focus of Maree’s work is all aspects of cancer management and prevention. Maree combines her work as a researcher and training in biomedical sciences with her clinical work to provide the best available evidence-based and personalised nutritional advice to her patients. This involves a comprehensive assessment of a patient’s individual needs based on their medical history, family history, medications, supplements, existing allergies and intolerances, and dietary intake.
Maree also has an interest in gastrointestinal issues such as IBS and gastric reflux, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, and the dietary management of chronic diseases.
