Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some questions we’re asked all the time. If there’s anything we’ve missed, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us!

I’ve never been to a dietitian before. Do I need a referral?

You don’t need a referral to come in and see Maree, you can just make an appointment with us!

How do I make an appointment?

The easiest way to book with us is online on this website! Just click here: Book an Appointment.
If you’ve never been in to see Dr. Maree Brinkman before, or if it has been over a year since you’ve seen her, please make sure you choose the 75 minute First Appointment option.

Otherwise, you can call us on 03 8374 3944, or email us at [email protected]

I live in rural Victoria or interstate - can I still see Maree?

Dr Maree Brinkman believes that everyone should have access to dynamic, evidence-based dietary management advice for their lifestyle and medical history. Therefore, she is excited to offer Skype consultations to these patients.

To book a Skype consult with Maree, simply click “Book an appointment” in the tab at the top of this page, and please email [email protected] with the subject “Skype consultation” to notify us that you are requesting a Skype consult.

How much is it to see Maree?

Initial consultations with Dr. Maree Brinkman are 75 minutes long and cost $120
Subsequent appointments are 45 minutes long, and cost $90

At Nutrition Biomed, we pride ourselves on providing the best care to everyone who comes through our doors, and want to be accessible to those who need us. If you are concerned with the cost of services, please contact us  and we can chat about making accommodations for you.

What kind of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, EFTPOS, and cash. Private health fund claims can also be made here at our clinic.

Can you send me the invoice after my appointment, so I can pay online?

Unfortunately, we do require that accounts be settled at the time of your appointment.

Does Medicare cover my visit?

If you have been diagnosed with a chronic condition, your GP can write you a “Chronic Disease Management plan” (CDM) which includes up to 5 allied health practitioner visits per calendar year (including dietitian services). Under these plans, Medicare will rebate you $52.95 per visit – Please note there is a gap payment.
These Medicare claims can all be done right in our clinic, but we do require you have a bank card with either a savings or cheque account attached, as the rebate can not be put onto credit cards.
Ask your GP if you qualify for a CDM.

I have already seen Maree, and then got a CDM after. Can I still get the rebate for my first appointment?

Unfortunately, Medicare refunds can only be made from the date of the CDM onward.

Are you open 7 days a week? What are your hours?

We are closed on Sundays and Mondays, and operate primarily by appointment from Tuesday to Saturday. Feel free to send us an email on any day, and we’ll respond to it quickly!
